Wedding planning can be overwhelming with all the little details – centerpieces, name card options, guest signing table (just a book? do we want Fuji instax cameras?!), coordinating bridesmaids dresses with groomsmen outfits... and the list goes on! But I know you can do it! You go girl!
When it comes to your wedding dress options, the little details can really help make your dress unique and custom (and more comfortable!). I recommend having a list of questions to ask your design stylist about your dress so you can be sure that you have all your bases covered.
Here are some custom details that you can consider when shopping for your wedding dress:
- Lace-Up Back?
Hey, as with anyone I get it, my weight can fluctuate from week to week. If you are worried about your dress fitting on the big day or just want to obtain the perfect fit, I recommend at least considering a lace-up back for your dress. Not all dresses can be changed to have a lace up back so make sure to ask your design stylist if this is an option for the style of dress you are eyeing.
Don’t like the look of the lace-up back or can’t get it with the dress style you want? Never fear! Grace + Ivory’s dresses all come with extra fabric on the sides so you can take out your dress.
- Longer Train?
Train length is important! I didn’t really think about the length of the train on my own wedding dress and wasn’t thrilled with it the day of. I would really think about the look you want with your dress and the train is a big part of that. If you want drama, you might want a long, pretty lace train. Or a long, simple lace train. It depends on the type of veil you’d like too; I paired my dress with a long, chapel length raw edge veil to achieve the look I wanted.
Do you want a deep sweetheart neckline? Or perhaps just make the sweetheart neckline slightly deeper? This can be done! Other neckline adjustments or changes? A possibility, depending on what it is you want and the style of your dress.
One thing to keep in mind about custom details for your big day: It doesn’t hurt to ask. And definitely ask before you buy a dress! Especially if the custom option you want is a make or break.
