If you're planning a summer 2022 wedding, you're probably wondering what trends are on the horizon for when things start to warm up again. We're talking color palettes, (hint: color is in!) the florals, and most importantly...the dress. We'll take a look into our crystal ball, with a lot of help from The Big Fake Wedding Chicago to inspire your own summer 2022 wedding.
If you’re not familiar with the event, The Big Fake Wedding is the trendiest wedding expo you’ll ever attend. A vow renewal in the form of a wedding ceremony, it’s the perfect chance to meet local vendors and see first hand what they can offer. From the cake, to the invites, to the signature cocktails you’ll be able to try, it’s all-in-all not a bad way to spend an evening as a future bride or groom. Or as a vendor (We love providing the dress!)
Although the Big Fake Wedding is known for their eclectic themes, this years was one of our personal favorites; Moroccan Sunset. The challenge was to draw inspiration from the desert with unique colors and rare blooms. Since we're forecasting themes with a hint of wanderlust to make a big impact this upcoming wedding season, we're bringing you all the stunning highlights from the day to inspire a little color to your ceremony and reception.
The Venue: The Lacuna Lofts
Perfectly located in the Pilsen neighborhood, The Lacuna Lofts truly is a one of a kind wedding venue. Every unique space features artwork from the Chicago artists it houses, even the bathrooms! It’s a unique blend of industrial and artful for the couple that wants to let their venue speak for itself. Not to mention, the sky-deck has the best views for a ceremony or cocktail hour. With a venue as unique as this, with built in pops of color, it won’t be your typical summer wedding!
Get The Look
Bride Melanie wore Grace + Ivory's Sienna Gown down the aisle. A silk-satin with illusion lace top, this is a wedding dress for the bride that doesn't shy away from showing some skin. Equal parts elegant and sexy, silky gowns are not going out of style anytime soon. With more and more brands going for the "slip dress" look, we're expecting silks and satins to make a big splash this summer 2022 wedding season. The Sienna Gown can be tried on at home, no matter your location, via Grace + Ivory's try-at-home program here.
Of course, Melanie's look would not of been complete without the gorgeous hair and makeup from Rare Bird Beauties. Soft romantic curls and a bronzy smokey eye are a must for upcoming brides.
As for the Groom, Brad and his groomsman paired blush ties with the brilliant blue suit from The SuitShop. Blue suits are definitely the new black for this upcoming summer so don't be afraid to play with hues. With a focus on affordability and quality, the Suit Shop is a great option for couples planning a Chicago wedding and beyond. Check out their try risk free program!
The Bling
Let's talk wedding bands! It can be easy to miss this small but incredibly important detail in the midst of your planning. You'll only be wearing it for the rest of your life...no big deal. For this event, Hitched provided beautifully crafted bands for both bride and groom. We love Hitched because they focus on stylish designs that don't break the budget. The best part? You can try them on at home!
It's All in the Details
From intricate invites from Liana Lu Paperie to the table designs by Morr Events, Vintage Floral Designs, and Posh Petals...this was a day with no shortage of details to admire! We personally loved the colorful macaroon cake, by Sweet Home Cakery, and the taste test was a 10/10 in our book.
Metallic golds, sage greens, wine and orange hues, are all on the horizon for this upcoming summer. It's like we said...color is in!
A Roof Top "I Do!"
From the first look to the walk down the aisle, a Chicago Wedding is not complete without taking advantage of the incredible skyline. Although we're quite bias to a Moroccan sunset (seriously, how fun!), a theme with a nod to the destination that means the most to you, might be a good place to start. A rooftop wedding is the next rustic barn, we're calling it now!
Whether you usually follow the trends or pave your own way, it's important to draw from inspiration that feels the most like you. But don't be afraid to have a little fun, and add some color, with your summer 2022 wedding!
