Because we’re all different shapes and sizes, standard sample sizing doesn’t cut it for the majority of brides. With a made-to-measure wedding dress, you’re getting a dress made to your specific set of measurements: not just waist, hips, and bust, but a wide range of nuanced measurements, like shoulder-to-waist and waist-to-floor, which are important for a better proportional fit.

Is made to measure customizable?
Yes! It’s one of the major perks of the process. Because your wedding dress is being made specifically for you and not mass-produced, it’s easier to make changes to the sample design. Changing underlay colors, raising or lowering the neckline, building in additional support with panels or boning, or adding sleeves are some of the more common customizations we see. (Note that we do also offer fully custom design if you’re looking for more than subtle changes.)
Are made-to-measure wedding dresses expensive?
A common misconception is that made to measure will double your budget. Grace + Ivory gowns are priced attainably and costs are inclusive of the made-to-measure process because we work directly with our team of skilled artisans.

Does made to measure require alterations?
Although a made-to-measure wedding dress will be a good fit proportionally, you may need specific tweaks that can only be done once the dress is on your body. Additionally, some of your measurements may change the closer you get to your wedding, and you should still plan for alterations to match the hem length to your final shoe height and add a bustle.
